Selectman Meeting – May 16, 2011
1) Roadside Mowing Bids
a. Alan Fleet 1 pass $925 (low)
b. Rick Young 1 pass 1,100
c. Kim Lambert 1 pass 4,750 (high)
d. Tink Conkright 1 pass 1,148
Awarded to Alan Fleet for Summer 2011 for first pass. No second pass without prior approval.
2) Re: Bruce Manzer holding tank for temporary sewage at gravel pit for office approved and signed.
3) Calderwood’s permit by rule is in. Sent list of who “bid specs” were sent to.
4) School house is done. $435 for Peter Kenney’s chimney work. Zinchuk got roof done for $4,700. Neighbors say it looks nice. New window boxes will be built.
5) SR fire station siding – Retta talked to Doug but no news yet on tree removal, spring wish list and fixing the siding.
6) Heating oil plans: Retta has reviewed them. No prices published yet. Dave looked at energy Audit providers. Once guy from Boothbay will do audit for $100 per hour. Will look at pre-buying oil. Dave and Retta will look for less expensive options.
7) Review mail and announcements

c. About 104k is outstanding in taxes
d. DOT brought in bill for 108.25 yards of salt
e. Bought some grass seed for cemetery. Eric Lowell did some community service loam work with Charlie

Selectman Meeting – June 6, 2011
1) Bridge – nothing new but engineering bill $4,982. No word from CMP, assume all is OK.
2) SRFD siding – they’ve talked a little to Rick Clark. We’ve asked for a summer wish list of work. Bruce has a tree (or two) he wants cut.
3) Oil – we get 10cents off a gallon. Retta will ask a few questions. Wait for offers.
4) Signed liquor license for Golf Course.
5) Jim gave us a wind power update.
6) Natural Gas. Proposal to try to get it into Bethel.
7) Energy audit. $250/500/800 for size of building. They make suggestions and there are incentives to off set the cost.

Selectman Meeting – March 21, 2011
1) Bilinsky abatement – Jim reviewed abatement history very briefly
a. Bob and Jim Sysko measured house and card has been adjusted
b. Inaccurate fixture counts, claim only house in town accessed for hot tubs
c. Physical depreciation – only 2 houses in town without it: at least 5%
d. Request 50% depreciation of pool. Says all other cards have 50% depreciation
e. Jim says we’ll clean up notes on tax card, but as long as its accurate we’ll clean it up
f. Looking for equal assessment based on comparable houses in Newry. Bob owes Sophia explanation of grade she says. Claims other homes are luxury and not taxed that way. Two and a half to three times assessment of other top “luxury homes” in town
Ie: 90 Goose Eye, 151 Vista, Douglas Road houses, 274 and the one up the hill, 40 Wilderness Rd Hardings in Peak
g. willing to bring in invoices proving grade if supplies used
h. asks why it’s a AA property and the only one in town

1) Fire Dept executive session with Bruce Pierce. 5:35 enter 5:40 exit
2) Jim Sysko and Bob Gingras met to review blue prints
Sysko submitted a letter certifying building footprint and framing measurements
Abatement Points:
1) resolved, we have accurate numbers
2) hot tubs on comparables are taxed
3) physical depreciation does not apply. No houses have received 5% depreciation since Bob took over
4) Functional obsolescence for pool does not apply
5) Grade equates to an actual cost. Bob will explain grading for us to consider.
6) Ratio is same as other houses in town
7) Card will be cleaned up as requested
8) No response to summary necessary

Selectman Meeting – Jan 3, 2011
1) Liquor License for South Ridge signed.
2) Tues @ SR firestation Wilson would like to cut mostly pine, little wood value. Brush chipped would cost more. Some dead fir. Will get a price for scarred pine and trees needed to fall it, and price for removing all trees David Bonney thinks needs to go.
3) Robert Chapman and Janet Pearce Foster want to sell the town back a lot in the SR Cemetary. Will offer $100.
4) OC Solid Waste: have a grant to study solid waste disposal. A committee will gather info.
5) Jeff Sterns looking for culverts that block fish immigration. Will notify landowners.
